Originally from Zhejiang, China, Pastor Lixin (Morris) Mao received his higher education in Beijing and became a college instructor and tour guide in Hangzhou after graduation. In 2001, he was born again and got baptized there. In 2004, he and his family immigrated to Canada and settled down in Belleville, Ontario.
In 2012, he was called by God and started his seminary training at CCIC School of Theology. In 2016, he obtained the degree of MDiv and served as volunteer preacher in the Chinese ministry of Quinte Alliance Church in Belleville. From August 2019 to April 2024, he was pastor of the Chinese congregation of Chinese Evangelical Alliance Church of Toronto.
At the end of June of 2024, he moved to Edmonton together with his wife Peijuan and his younger son Justin, and from July 1, 2024, he began to serve as lead pastor of Edmonton Living Fountain Alliance Church.
Daniel & his family came to Living Fountain Alliance in the Fall of 2025, after serving overseas as International Workers with the Alliance since 2019. Before vocational ministry, Daniel worked in a variety of leadership and teaching roles, spanning from high school classrooms in S.E. Asia to working in leadership & development roles for a national telecommunications provider in Canada.
His relationship with Jesus has been ongoing longer than he can remember. Along that path of discipleship, Daniel served in a variety of ministry roles within churches and in parachurch organizations. He has an Advanced Diploma of Christian Studies from Mount Carmel Bible School, a double-major Humanities degree from the U of A, and a Master of Divinity from Ambrose Seminary.
During his time off, Daniel typically spends time with his family, as they explore the wonders of God’s world, create fond memories for wonderful daughter for whom much of the world is bright, shiny, and new.
